The much anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to launch around September 3 with a wealth of new features including a sci-fi inspired partially wrap-around Yuom display screen.

Samsung showed off their smartphone wrap-around screen Yuom technology at the past events promoting future tech so much is expected from this new product launch just ahead of the IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany which marks the most prestigious technology media event in Europe each year.

Rumors abound that the Apple iPhone 6 will be launching on September 12, so it is possible that Samsung is trying to steal a little of the thunder away from Apple with this one.

Health and Fitness Push

The Note 4 is expected to continue the gradual push into more useful health apps. Beginning with their S Health app, the Note 4 is expected to have additional sensors to check for harmful IV radiation levels. The Android Gear product line will surely benefit from the wealth of sensors that is expected to either match the sensor-stuffed Samsung Galaxy S5 or even exceed it.

Eye Scanner or Just Fingerprint

When did a fingerprint scanner become so rote? When there was the possibility of a retina scanner with a smart phone instead, that's when. Unconfirmed at this stage, but a tantalising prospect for those of us who feel that fingerprints are too easy to get around.

2K Display

The Samsung Galaxy S5 disappointed with a screen display that didn't reach the 2160p level. It is hoped that the guys at Samsung took note and found a way to get a resolution-inspired 2K display in their flagship Note 4. If not, early adopters will be asking, “If not now, when?”

Water-resistant

Following the S5's lead on water-resistant properties to a certain depth, it's possible that the Note 4 will also have these features to protect owners who get caught in a downpour.

Gear VR Headset Support

The new Gear VR headset which is exciting consumers interested in virtual reality gaming may be compatible with the Note 4. Samsung is expected to have some announcements at the upcoming IFA trade fair about their Gear VR line.

Supporting Power Users

The Note 4 may well have 4GB of RAM supporting either a fast Octa-core Exynos CPU or one of the Snapdragon 800 series chipsets. Global LTE options is a possibility too in order to allow anyone to travel worldwide with their handset and not have trouble connecting using a local SIM card and 4G LTE data plan.

Handwriting recognition to unlock the device could be an interesting new wrinkle for users who wish to avoid pins, passwords and fingerprint scans.

Battery capacity is also likely to get a boost past the 3,500mAh level in order to provide enough juice to last most of the day without a charge.

What Will Wow Buyers

The best prospect that will likely wow buyers will be the wrap-around display (no doubt with apps coming up with features to create scrolling notifications along the edge of the phone and display). A retina unlocking feature could also garner as much fanfare as the fingerprint scanner did with the iPhone 5S. Only time will tell.
