It is known that the PC market has been experiencing a continuous decline for the last two years, but according to official data from the IDC (International Data Corporation), the past few months there have been small signs of recovery, and a faint light in the end of the tunnel can be seen.

In particular, according to IDC's figures for the US market, there was an increase in the (wholesale) sales of around 4.9% for the second quarter of 2016.

However, on a global scale, things are not so positive, since IDC’s data show a fall of almost 4.5% (although the initial prediction estimated a decrease of 7.4%, so that's good). Undoubtedly, there are several reasons that PC sales are continuing to decline, however the main reason is that many users are turning their interest in the world of tablets and smartphones in order to carry out a series of daily tasks, which in the past required the existence of a computer.

"The PC market continues to struggle as we wait for replacements to accelerate, along with some return of spending from phones, tablets, and other IT," said Loren Loverde, vice president, Worldwide PC Trackers & Forecasting. "Our long-term outlook remains cautions. However, the strong results in the US offer a glimpse of what the market could look like with pockets of growth and a stronger overall environment. It's not dramatic growth, but it could push the market into positive territory slightly ahead of our forecast for 2018."

The data collected by IDC also depict a setback by Apple in the computers market, where Asus has now managed to get the fourth place instead. Without a doubt, the IDC data are very important for the nature of the PC market, which has been certainly having troubles for some time now.
