Mangos: The Smart Ring With A Panic Button
A Los Angeles-based startup company created Mangos, a smart ring that seems to be quite interesting. Thanks to its GPS unit, it can track the user's location and send alerts to specific numbers, when the owner is in danger.
When the user is feeling like he's in danger, then he presses the ring’s button and his contacts will receive a text message with his current location. Mangos is quite small and can be customized to fit in each finger. It has a built-in Bluetooth module and is fully waterproof.
To avoid accidentally sending an alert to the contacts, it is required that the panic button is pressed and held for 3 seconds to send the notification, plus you can cancel the alarm within 30 seconds via the corresponding smartphone app. The battery lasts for 400 activations, and the ring is turned off when not in use.
The company states that its aim is to put an end to sexual assaults, kidnappings and violent crimes. Mangos will be added to Kickstarter on 21 June, where it will seek a funding of $30,000. Those who support the campaign with $65 or more will get the smart ring for free.
However, it has not been announced yet when it will be released.
