Destiny PC port now in question, won't be released this year

It hasn't been too long since the highly anticipated 'Destiny' was released for Xbox 360/One and PS3/PS4 consoles. Even though it has been met with mixed reviews from players and critics, a lot of people are still wondering when the PC version will be released. Since the beginning, it had been expected that Bungie would release Destiny on consoles before PC, but most were hoping to at least have a PC release date by the time it hit the shelves for Xbox and Playstation.

Lars Bakken, who is the Lead Designer for Destiny, told Eurogamer that things were complicated in regards to the PC release. He wasn't entirely specific, but it sounds like as of right now, there's not even a rough estimate of when this game will be ported over. It doesn't sound like they've ruled out a PC port whatsoever, but if they aren't able to get it finished anytime soon, it leaves you to wonder if they'll bother with it in the future.

One of the biggest reasons why it's taking so long, is because Bungie is doing the development for all platforms themselves, and not outsourcing any of the work. Since they already have Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, and PS4 to deal with, adding a fifth platform just makes it all the more complicated. Now that the game has been released, it might open up more time to work on the PC version to get the port out quicker.

For now, its likely best to not hold your breath for a PC release of Destiny. Hopefully we'll get a better idea of it's future in the coming weeks, and we'll be sure to relay that information to you right here on Download3k.
