Best New iOS and Android Games to Play in March
March has just arrived, and apart from the beggining of spring it also brought many new tasty game titles to indulge into. This time’s new games for iOS and Android come in a wide variety and it is certain to please all types of gamers (as always, I hope). Below is the list with the best new games that we picked for you.
The list begins with the FREE games and is ends with the PAID games, for more convenience.
Flop Rocket (iOS, Android) by Butterscotch Shenanigans, LLC
Flop Rocket is a one-touch game app in which you are in control of a rocket that must pass through a wide cave, while being threatened by weird alien creatures such as giant worms, Spaceducks, and many others. Your mission is to prevent a space program from being cancelled. Quite a unique storyline, I must say.
There are a variety of missions for you to complete, plus items that you can use in each one, such as powerups to increase your rocket's abilities and coins to collect that you can later use for upgrades.
This game has two versions available: a free version, which comes with ads and limited posibilities, and a premium version that is ad-free and includes more features. You can enjoy the game even without the premium version so there is a high chance of you sticking with the free version instead of buying the premium version. Nevertheless, you should try it out and decide for yourselves.
Magic Touch: Wizard for Hire (iOS, Android) by Nitrome
Magic Touch: Wizard for Hire is my personal favorite on the list. In this game you are a wizard that has to take care of multiple enemies who fall from the sky and attack you. These enemies are robots (yeah, I know robots and wizards is not a common concept and do not intersect usually) and thankfully they’re not falling down fast, thus give you time in order to do your magic tricks on them. The trick to defeat them is simple; you must match the shapes on balloons in order to pop them with your finger, and consequently cause damage to the enemies. This of course must be done before they hit the ground, otherwise they will reach the castle which you are trying to protect from them.
Agent Alice (iOS, Android) by wooga
Agent Alice is a new hidden objects game that takes place in the 1960s, a wonderful period for many people. The main character is Alice Wallace, a detective in The Agency, who solves riddling cases that take place around the world. During her adventures, you (Alice) have the chance to meet many other characters, suspects and not, in different parts of the world. For instance, a couple of interesting characters include a war veteran and a journalist (I cannot reveal more, unfortunately!).
Similarly to most hidden objects games, Agent Alice’s story is split into episodes, with each one unfolding a new mystery and taking place in different locations. In addition, a fact that should not be forgotten is that this is a free hidden objects game. What's more to ask!
Jelly Jump (iOS) by Ketchapp
Ketchapp has spoiled us a lot with great games in the past, such as 2048 (which I’m sure all of you know), Circle and many more. This time they’re back with yet another challenging game that puts our brain skills and reflexes to test. In Jelly Jump you must help little jellies to jump higher and higher so that they won’t drown. You can also collect little jelly blobs and craft new jellies out of them. Graphics and sounds are yet again awesome. You will be addicted, I can guarantee that, so play at your own risk!
Roid Rampage (iOS) by Butterscotch Shenanigans, LLC
Roid Rampage is an interesting endless-runner type of game for iOS that takes place in space. Your job is to pilot a spaceship and collect Juice, while avoiding being smashed to pieces by asteroids. If you play the free version, then you'll find that your ship is actually very fragile and it hardly has any power ups. To use a better ship you’ll have to purchase the premium version, which is a bit unfair considering there are endless-runners that give the player the chance to acquire almost everything even without paying, only by increasing the in-game difficulty.
Nonetheless, it is a very well-made game and is worth trying out. The free version is fun enough to spend some time with, although you will probably be frustrated with its difficulty.
Age of Sparta (iOS, Android) by Gameloft
Age of Sparta is Gameloft’s newest project. It's strategy game that takes place in ancient Greece, and more specifically it covers the grounds of Sparta during the time of the Persian wars. The game doesn't make use of Spartan heroes only, but also relies heavily on Greek mythology in general, with the use of the gods and beasts who fight with humans against Xerxes' invasion.
You can form legions that include human soldiers and mythical creatures, as well as use the powers of the gods (such as Zeus’ thunders) in order to cause great damage to the enemy forces. And to make things even more epic, many combat scenes are animated with great 3D graphics.
Of course, a strategy game isn’t all battles and fights. You have to design and built a city too, and make it stand out with temples, monuments, strong defense systems, and everything a city would need in ancient times.
Age of Sparta is an epic strategy game for you to play.
TWIST3D (iOS) by Chroma Studios ApS
Match-3 puzzle games have proven to be very popular and every time new ones are realesed, it’s gradually getting harder and harder to the one that stands out. TWIST3D manages to keep the player interested because it brings new ingredients to the recipe. The player has control of a cube, and rotates layers in order to line up three or more blocks, with the purpose of destroying them with a tap.
Apart from that, the game comes with more than 70+ stages to explore, plenty of unlockable boosters and prizes, and many challenges to keep you always entertained.
TWIST3D is a match-3 puzzle game that deserves a spot in our list and one that I recommend to everyone.
Heavenstrike Rivals (iOS, Android) by Square Enix
Heavenstrike Rivals is a strategy game in which players fight against each other in real time or against computer generated opponents, to prove how strong your team against the rest is, and satisfy your inner narcissist by seeing your name on the PvP leaderboards.
The story goes like this: "The once-prosperous aerial kingdom of Lunnain lies in tatters, assaulted from above by the Fallen - ruthless monsters of nightmare who seek only complete destruction. But the people will not take their fate lying down, and their strike back at the heavens starts now!". Heavenstrike Rivals is a very fun game with unique gameplay, although it comes with a few issues (bugs) that we hope will be fixed in future updates.
Under the Sun - A 4D puzzle game (iOS) by Stegabyte
In Under the Sun you play as a castaway who must reach the campfire before nightfall, by traveling across the island he is stranded on. Now, you must be wondering what 4D is all about. Well, the game is a 3D puzzle but because it uses time, that makes it 4D. And what does time have to do with it? With each step that you take, time moves forward and the world changes (e.g. trees start growing, animals grow older, waters rises etc.) and as a result, things get more difficult for you. Every day that comes you will see that the island is different than yesterday and that means new challenges for you. Each level that you are asked to clear allows you a specific number of moves you can make, and of course every move is connected to time. Luckily, time can be reversed if you make a mistake.
The game comes with more than 50 different puzzles, and various challenges. You need to take time into account and think how the world will react to each step you take- a very smart combination of time and puzzle games. There are a lot of puzzle elements to contend with in each level, and it’s great to see a solution come together.
Goat! (iOS) by Kid Bunch, Inc.
In this 3D endless platform puzzle game you are controlling -what else- a goat that tries to reach the top of the mountain. You can spin the mountain around to help the goat climb higher, and tap to make it run, hop, skip, and jump from one platform to the next. Obstacles include falling platforms, and you must be careful not to fall off. There are plenty of upgrades and missions to spice things up.
LIMBO (iOS, Android) by Playdead, $4.99
A dark, eerie and a bit disturbing game that will haunt you and captivate you at the same time. Limbo is a 2D platform puzzle that tells the story of a young boy who enters Limbo in an attempt to find his missing sister. In his quest he comes across terrifying monsters that came straight out of a nightmare, and deadly traps, all in a world covered in dark. The designs add to the spooky atmosphere and while the controls might be difficult to handle at first, LIMBO will become one of your most played games.
It's definitely in my personal most favorite games.
** IMPORTANT ** - Requires at least iPad 2, iPhone 4S or iPod touch (5th gen) - or newer.
Joe Dever's Lone Wolf Complete (iOS, Android) by Bulkypix, $12.99
The highly successful RPG game that is partially a book, is now available in a complete edition which includes all the 4 Acts of the story that were previously sold separately.
The protagonist is a warrior monk named Lone Wolf, who tries to find out what happened to the city of Rockstarn. If you enjoy gamebooks and are a fan of games such as Skyrim, then Lone Wolf will be a nice addition to your collection.
And this concludes the Best New Games list. We’ll be back with more games as soon as more of them are available; we will consider them all and try to find the best ones among them.
