Alienware Alpha Steam Machine Console Pre-orders Now available
Even though the new Steam OS that Steam Machines will be running on has been delayed yet again, Alienware is still accepting pre-orders for it's Alpha Console -- which is the first Steam Machine. Steam OS won't be out until 2015, and we still don't know exactly when it will be out next year, but that won't stop Alienware from shipping out their Alpha consoles this November. For now, we can still take a look at the specs, and everything you'll receive when the console is released if you pre-order now:
- Intel Code Processor (multiple options, ranging from i3 - i7)
- Custom Nvidia GPU 2GB GDDR5 Memory
- 4 - 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM
- 500GB - 2TB HDD Space
- USB 3.0 port x 2, USB 2.0 port x 2, HDMI input/output
- Pre-order Bonuses: Payday 2, Magicka, Magicka: Dungeons and Daemons, Gauntlet Helm
The console will launch with a Windows Operating System that has a custom Alienware UI to work with a controller and get you easy access to Steam and your game collection. There will likely be an update next year when Steam OS is (finally) released, if that ever actually happens. Nothing is guaranteed however, and Alienware could just as well re-launch the console with Steam OS. Pricing for the Alienware Alpha starts a $549 and increases as you upgrade the desired hardware for your console.
