Overall, this program is a solid and reliable solution for users looking to increase a PC’s speed, productivity; fix errors; optimize Internet connectivity; speed up Win boot up; uninstall stubborn or damaged software.

Installation

Installation is neat and transparent, although it is worth mentioning that during our test Comodo Internet Security identified the installation pack as malware. Other antivirus programs recognized the pack as clean. We believe Comodo reported a false positive alert. See a more detailed antivirus report. In today’s paranoid mass surveillance environment, no wonder we get false positives with reputable downloads. The program is compatible with all Win Os from XP to 8. Minimum requirements are Pentium 3 and above, 512 MB RAM. The installation wizard does not attempt to install any unwanted toolbars or applications with it.

Interface

The graphic user interface is modern and intuitive. Once the main window launches, you can see the immediate scan progress. This may come as a downside because we do not always want to start with a scan, so we need to stop it manually. Other than that, we have nothing to point a finger at in a negative way.

The numerous features are well-organized, visible, self-descriptive and easy-to-navigate. Navigation tabs view is convenient, making it easy to switch between tasks in a single window. The cases when separate windows open are when the user accesses settings and reports.

Pros

• Convenient and easy-to-navigate GUI.

• The program analyzes how much disk space can be saved after the clean up.
• There is an option to add certain entries to Ignore list.
• The full version enables users to schedule automatic maintenance tasks.
• There is an option to create a restore point before each scan.

Cons

The trial version does not offer the freedom of scheduling a maintenance task, or repair and clean up. However, once upgraded, the program works like a charm, except for two things:

• Program Uninstaller uninstalled one out of two programs during our test. The application it failed to uninstall, AceMoney, was successfully removed by Windows Uninstaller.
• The scan starts automatically when the application starts, but it is not always necessary. It would be nice to be able to turn this feature off.

Alternatives

JetClean and JetBoost, Advanced System Care Ultimate. Overall, number of system optimizers is overwhelming. They range from free to expensive ones, but they have a lot of features in common. The bottom line is they all require outmost caution from the user.

Conclusion

Overall, RegInOut is a reliable and efficient system optimizer that comes at an affordable price. The revert/restore to the old settings feature gives this powerful toolkit more reliability and trust, if compared to analogous programs that do not offer this option. The scan process does not interfere with other programs' performance. The program allows a certain extent of tweaking and customization for advanced users, and peace of mind for novice users.
