Overview

iFreeUp is a system improvement tool aimed at iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad devices which runs on Windows PCs and Macs.

The lack of expandable storage via microSD cards means that storage space is at a premium with iOS devices. Therefore it is important to have an efficient way to delete old caches, junk and temporary files in order that they do not unnecessarily accumulate over time and end up taking too much precious space. Photos that have already been deleted are often still stored on the device and iFreeUp can free up the space they are still taking up.

Junk files, caches, logs, cookies and other supposed short-term files can also be shredded rather then merely deleted. This ensures that an iOS data recovery app will not be able to recover details about usernames and passwords entered, web sites visited previously, and other information that it may be important to destroy. Deleted photos can also be shredded to make sure that they cannot be recovered later.

The software can also help facilitate the import or export of books, music, podcasts, videos, photos and apps between the iOS device and the computer. The data contained within the app and records of games played with apps like Angry Birds can all be imported/exported successfully. It is not only possible to use this software feature as a backup option, but previous exports from iOS can be used to import to a different iOS device later.

Installation

The installation completed without any issues.

There was no adware, toolbars, spyware or malware included with the setup package.

Interface

The interface is delivered in a sleek black look which is similar to other apps also made by ioBit.

There are two main tabbed navigation options: “Quick Clean” and “File Manager.”

In the case of the “Quick Clean” feature, it is broken down into five sections for Junk files clean, Privacy sweep, Privacy anti-theft, Photo shred, and Performance optimize. It is possible to scan the connected iOS device to determine what issues have been found.

The number of issues for each of the five features are then displayed to the right of the command link. Clicking on the linked number of issues will bring up additional information about the problems found. There is also a large “Clean” button to proceed with a cleaning effort across all problems found.

The interface is clean, easy to read and doesn't really require any instructions to understand it.
