1 medium Sony Expected to Make Project Morpheus Announcement at GDC 2015 Will Highlight New Social and Gaming ExperiencesWith 2015 shaping up to be a big year for virtual reality devices, it seems that Sony's Project Morpheus has been receiving substantially less coverage than its primary competitors, the Oculus Rift and Microsoft HoloLens.

Other than the original introduction of the product at last year's Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2014, and a few high-profile demonstrations since, we haven't learned much about the exact specs or release date of the Morpheus.

Fortunately, that is all set to change at the beginning of next month, when Sony is expected to divulge more information about Project Morpheus in an event session they're calling “Developing for Project Morpheus: An Update from Sony.”

The session will be held on March 4th at 12:30 PST in Room 2014 of the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, putting it right in the middle of this year's 4-day GDC event (March 2nd to the 6th). It will be hosted by SCE's Senior Game Designer Jed Ashforth, Senior Staff Engineer Chris Norden, and Senior Producer Nicolas Ducet.

Although we don't yet know exactly what will be discussed during the informative session, representatives for Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) have stated that GDC attendees will learn about the kinds of “experiences that can be created when working with virtual reality on the PlayStation platform."

Since this will be a conference geared towards developers, the emphasis will most likely be on the creative capabilities that game and app designers will have through the interaction between the Morpheus headset and the PS4 and PS Vita.

We also expect to learn the official name of the headset (it will most likely keep the Morpheus moniker) and maybe even some news on the pricing and release date of the product.
