Two weeks and a month are left for the release of the long-awaited game Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, with its release date being August 25th. The next title in the series is coming to Xbox One, and starting from its release day, it will be available bundled with the Xbox One console as a free gift. This smart marketing technique always seemed to work for tech companies, and now it will be used once more to satisfy Gears of War fans who wish to obtain an Xbox One as well.

The Announcement

The surprising news were announced in San Diego’s Comic Con a few days ago, when Gears  of War co-creator Rod Fergusson got up to the stage and said that the upcoming remake of the first Gears of War game (Ultimate Edition, that is) will be available as a free copy along with the purchase of an Xbox One console. This offer will begin from 25th of August, which is the release date of the game.

Offer Details

This deal will last until the end of 2016, ideally. And I’m saying "ideally" due to Microsoft’s statement after the event that the offer will be valid for selected retails stores (including Microsoft Stores) and while supplies last. Sounds reasonable, but hopefully the stores won’t run out of supplies too soon.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be accompanying an Xbox One with 500 GB hard drive and one Xbox One wireless controller. The game will not be in the form of a hard copy, but the consumer will be given a digital download code which will be used to download it. Additionally, one special multiplayer skin for Cole will be included, as well as access to the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta in 2016 along with a 14-day free trial for Xbox Live Gold. All of this will cost $349, which is the normal price of an Xbox One (500 GB) console without any additions.

Ultimate Edition's Features and PC News

Ultimate Edition, even though is a remastered version of the first game, has been rebuilt from the ground up and will include five unreleased chapters of the campaign of the original game, but sadly, it will not feature Horde Mode- a game mode that previous installments in the franchise used to have.

Ferguson had announced at this year’s E3 that Ultimate Edition will make it to the PC as well and will have several features, such as 4K resolution support, DirectX 12 support, unlimited refresh rate and some visual upgrades from the Xbox One version, plus a lot of changes and modernizations. However, no release date for the PC version has been announced yet.
