Apple Introduces 2-Step Verification in iMessage and FaceTime
Apple has increased security in its iMessage and FaceTime services with a two-step verification features, in order to provide the iOS and Mac users with an improved safety lock.
The new security option was put into effect in Feb. 12th and guaranteed to make hacking attempts even harder, from the moment users proceed to activate it.
But what does the new two-step security offers?
Up until now the only “wall” of security between you and a hacker was your username and password. With this new update, (and it should be noted that it is optional), authorization is granted not only by typing your username and password, but also by adding a second code. When this two-step authentication is activated on iMessage and FaceTime, you will be asked to sign in with your usual Apple ID and afterwards you will have to verify your identity through your second security code, or through another Apple device or Mac computer. This will make hackers’ attempts to infiltrate your data harder than before.
Below are the steps that you need to follow if you want to activate the new two-step authentication on your account:
1. Go to My Apple ID.
2. Select "Manage your Apple ID" and sign in.
3. Select "Password and Security".
4. Under Two-Step Verification, select "Get Started" and follow the on-screen instructions.
