UndeadPixel 2.2

Overview

UndeadPixel is a pixel regeneration package that can help to deal with stuck or dead pixels on a monitor or LCD flat panel display screen.

The software recognizes that being able to rapidly change an area or a whole screen to a different color or series of colors is helpful to resolve a stuck or dead pixel which refuses to change color. The rapid movement helps to encourage a pixel to become unstuck and can revitalize pixels that at the time seem like they are dead and will never change color again.

The program is best run for a period of a few hours in order to give the monitor or flat panel screen the best chance of recovery. The colors that will be used in a sequence are displayed by the application. It is possible to customize one of the colors in that list. The cycle of running through the selected colors can be iterated many times and the user can select this.

The number of flash windows, their size and the interval with which they flash animated color switching can be adjusted using a slider.

Installation

The installation completed without any issues.

There was no adware, toolbars, spyware, malware or other malicious software included with the setup package.

UndeadPixel requires Windows Vista, XP, 2000 or later. .NET Framework 2.0 or later is also required.

Interface

The interface shows the Dead Pixel Locator area on the left with a series of labels color bars. One of these is selectable, the others are fixed. They include red, green, blue, lime, white, black and yellow.

The cycling through the series of colors can be repeated many times by choosing the number of iterations before hitting the “Start” button. Alternatively, the color buttons can be clicked separately to control the changing of the color to try to spot the dead pixel initially before running an animated sequence.

The Undead Pixel area on the right displays the selectable number of flash windows, flash size, and a slider for the flash interval. There is also a “Start” and “Stop” animation button.

Overall, the interface is clear and laid out well.
