Overview

Thoosje Windows 7 Sidebar is an alternative sidebar gadget toolbar for Windows Vista, XP and 7 users. The software can replace any existing Windows sidebar with a slicker alternative that has many different, new gadgets and uses half of the system resources than any Windows version does.

The media player gadget displays as a circular object, with a pause / play button, a move track forward, move track back, and up / down control buttons too. There are also some other smaller controls build into the object controller for finer control of playback.

A tiny calculator can be brought up and moved around the desktop. All the basic calculator functions are present, plus a small handful of the more scientific functions, a back function and an on/off feature too.

The calendar is kind of neat with a spiral top to it like it flips over from month to month. The month labeling get some nice shading behind the lettering to let them stand out from the bright orange background and the today's date is highlighted. Controls are present to move forward or back a month, or to quickly return to the current month.

Little yellow post it notes can be added which group together in a single post it note-type interface and can be paged through one by one.

The clock can be displayed and it has many different clock faces with optional seconds countdown and other features.

Installation

The installation is designed for Windows Vista, XP or 7 only. The installation went as planned.

Interface

The interface displays the various default sidebar items and any that have been added in the previous running of the Thosje Windows 7 Sidebar.

There is a collection of gadgets that can be used which are grouped into a single window. This is separated by some icons at the top of the window for grouping related gadgets together.

There is a gear-shaped icon that can be accessed to bring up the settings features.

Pros

• Change the less than stellar Windows toolbars to one that is a bit slicker
• Small lettering and controls to not obscure the desktop too much
• Many little gadgets including a clock, weather, calculator, calendar, music player, countdown, post it notes, CPU resources meter, Wi-Fi meter, battery measure, and more
• Uses fewer resources than the standard Windows toolbar

Cons

• Some of the fonts can be too small to read on a 10-inch display

Thoosje Windows 7 Sidebar is a neat toolbar replacement to provide some useful gadgets to the Windows desktop.
