Overview

Stellar File Repair Toolkit is a package of four applications that deal with corrupt or damaged files.

There is a ZIP file repairer, a Microsoft Word document repairer, a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet repairer, and a Microsoft Powerpoint slideshow repairer.

The packages work with the documents from Word, Excel and Powerpoint to recover the data properly without loss of data where possible. A preview of the document can be viewed before choosing to recover it which is performed in a separate version of the affected document so the original document is not touched.

In the case of the Word Recovery, text can be recovered in “Full document,” as “Filtered Text” or as “RAW Text.”

The Powerpoint repair system can recover individual components of a full PPT file which includes OLE objects, hyperlinks, tables, controls, modules, and the header and the footer too.

With ZIP repair, the tool can repair password-protected and unprotected ZIP files up to a maximum of 1.5 GB in size. Recovered data can be saved either uncompressed or compressed.

Installation

The installation requires 45.1 MB of available disk space to complete the installation.

There was no adware, toolbars, malware or spyware included with the setup package.

Stellar File Repair Toolkit requires Windows 98, 2000, Vista, XP, 7, 8 or Windows Server.

Interface

The main interface presents a graphic for each of the four modules. Once clicked, these will bring the user to a different layout for each module.

The features and options are also different for each module. With Repair Word File, there are selectable options for whether to recover full text, filtered text or RAW text. In the case of Repair Powerpoint file, different parts of the PPT file can be recovered depending on the state of the individual Powerpoint file is.
