Overview

RescuePRO for Mac OS X is a memory card software package. The software focuses on what can happen when a memory card becomes damaged or unreadable and the user needs to rescue images, video, audio, music, documents and anything else stored on the card so all is not lost. The software supports many different cards like SD, SDHC and MM, plus Smart Media, Microdrives, MP3 players, camcorders, digital cameras, CompactFlash, PCMCIA, plus DVD and CD discs too. There is also support for USB and Firewire connections, so a user on the Mac can hook up an external card reader which supports all these different memory cards supported by RescuePRO and read the content in over the cable.

Installation

Installation is easily performed as the software is compatible with Mac OS X 10.66 or higher. The software installs right away and can then get to work reading the contents of memory cards, digital devices or discs. The Pro Deluxe version is available as well for people who want the next version up to the RescuePRO app.

Interface

The interface for RescuePRO for OS X Mac is quite similar to other versions on the Windows system. A series of large buttons are displayed on the main screen presenting the options available. These include: Recover Photos, Recover Audio / Video, Recover Files, Backup Media, Wipe Media, and Help.

When looking to recover photos, the display can scan the media and display many photos per row. These can be clicked individually to see a larger version in the center of the screen. The number of read errors and total number of files are shown at the bottom of the window.

Other types of media can also be viewed, previewed and selected for recovery.

There is also a Backup media section to intentionally backup media on a storage device rather than only use the software to rescue at-risk data.
