Portable ClamWin is a portable app version of the ClamWin anti-virus package which runs under multiple versions of Windows. The program is written in C++ and Python for execution speed while running through virus definition files with thousands of virus detection protocols. There are regular virus database updates (though this is disabled with the portable version which will need to be updated separately when a new virus definitions update is released). Users are asked to submit unrecognized viruses to help with improving the already high detection rates. The program does not include a real-time scan to monitor activities, so it's necessary to manually scan files when that is needed. The portable version doesn't include update features (as you won't always be connected when using a portable app) and also excludes scan scheduling.
