Overview

PhraseExpress Text Expander is a text snippet manager which can help reduce the amount of typing needed by using shortcuts that can fill in full phrases. Opening phrases to emails and documents can pop-up to give the typist a choice of different introductions based on the first few characters entered. Once the user is used to the selection of choices for certain types of written messages they are able to reduce the amount of typing involved.

The software can also readily learn new phrases that user type more than once and incorporate them into the way that PhraseExpress Text Expander works.

Whether the typist is writing many emails, personal or business correspondence, adding random thoughts or producing written content for their own web sites, the software can save them time by reducing the time it takes to produce the writing needed.

There are also some health benefits like reducing the likelihood, instances and severity of repetitive strain injury (RSI) with typing too much on a daily basis. If the software can reduce the amount of typing necessary then typing tasks may be completed faster than normal and less time will be spent at the keyboard each day.

Installation

During the installation there are the options to start automatically when Windows does, use the software within a network environment or integration for file context menus when using Windows Explorer. The installation completed without incident and there was no malicious software included with the the setup package.

There is also a portable version to store on a USB flash drive. An Android mobile app is also available which can sync with the Windows Text Expander to ensure that they share the same custom phrases within the applications.

Additionally, there is a Text Expander Manager which includes a client and server setup for sharing text templates across a network. This software supports Firebird SQL and is compatible with Citrix / Terminal server.

Interface

The interface has a serious row of menu options lining the top of the application window. On the left side is the Phrases and Folders pane where text snippets can be organized in whatever way makes the most sense (types of greetings, email phrasing, projects, companies, etc.). On the right side are the description, phrase content, a select-able hot key, auto text to use alone or with an application, and a select-able option for how long to wait before executing the text expanding transformation.

There is an Expert mode with more options presented and an Easy mode (default is easy mode).
