Overview

For some people, using WinRar or WinZip is not an easy task. They are pretty popular, but that’s probably due to their big number of features, and although they’re useful to more advanced users, they only make things complicated to inexperienced users. JustZIPIt is the right application for those who belong in the second group since the only thing it does is help you zip and unzip files. No more useless features and long documentation files.

Installation

If there was a Guiness Book of software records, this program would possibly hold the title for the fastest installation procedure. All you have to do is double-click on the setup file, wait a couple of seconds and then see a window open and tell you that JustZIPit has been successfully installed (messing up the installation here would also get you a place in the Guiness Book, since it’s impossible to do so). The window that appears tells you how to uninstall the program (use the “Remove JustZIPit” icon in the Programs menu) and has an advertisement of another product as well.

Supported operating systems are all 32-bit versions of Windows.

Interface

This software has literally no interface. The shortcut from the Programs menu opens an HTM file with information and useful links about the program. To use JustZIPit, simply right-click on the files or folders you want to compress and select “JustZIPit - Create a ZIP file” or “JustZIPit – then Email”, if you want to attach the compressed file in an e-mail. A progress bar will appear afterwards and close automatically when the process finishes.

Pros

The biggest advantage of using the program is that you don’t have to open a cluttered or complicated interface just to zip or unzip a file. There’s nothing easier than selecting the files/folders you want to zip and executing the process from the context menu. And if you want to email the zip file after creating it, the second JustZIPit context menu command will do that for you.

This program can unzip ZIP and CAB files, whilst there are plans to add support for TAR, GZIP and other formats.

Really fast installation that requires no technical skills. Double-clicking on the setup file will install the program in just a few seconds.

Cons

Unlike the product itself, its website is quite hard to navigate. In fact, even searching for JustZIPit in the website’s search box will redirect you its webpage, however a fatal error will be displayed instead of displaying the true contents of that page. Copy-pasting the URL link will fix that.

Ok, you won’t find a program that is as easy to use as JustZIPit, but here are some other applications for managing archives, some of which have quite a lot of features: 7-ZIP (free), PeaZip (free), Universal Extractor (free), IZArc (free), HaoZip (free), FreeArc (free) and TUGZip (free).
