Overview

Comodo Backup is a free and reliable backup software with many features that guarantee the safety of all data in your computer. This includes storing the backups anywhere, like in a network drive, an external drive or an FTP server. It can even burn them on CD/DVD. They can be saved as ISO or ZIP, with the option to be encrypted as well. It will also help you create the backup by categorizing your music, photos and videos for the sake simplicity. Installation

Comodo installer will guide you through all the steps needed to finish installation. In one of them you will be asked if you want to install Comodo Cloud too, which is a client that gives you the ability to store your files online, with a storage capacity of 5GB. The installation will start right after that step and will finish after a few minutes. Upon completion you will be asked to enter you email address if you want to receive news about Comodo products. This step is optional.

Interface

Very modern and user friendly interface. There is a list of all the features categorized on the left side of the main program. Those categories are five: Home, Backup, Shortcuts, Restore, Manage and Online Storage. The first one has general information regarding the backups in your computer. The Backup category is where you create your backups. It has a lot of settings to configure, such as backup type and backup source. In the next tab (shortcuts) you can view some predefined profiles for backing up personal files like your music and photos. In the Restore tab you can restore a previously created backup from various sources (computer, network, FTP server etc.). From the Manage tab you can view recent events and manage mounted backups. The last category is only available to registered users with a Comodo Cloud account.

Pros

You have plenty of options as to what type of backup you can create, including Full, Incremental and Differential. Full creates a completely new backup, incremental only makes a backup of new or modified files since the last backup, and differential provides a backup of the files that have changed since the last full backup. You also have many options regarding the backup source since you can pick to backup files and directories, disk partitions, registry entries or files, email accounts and IM conversations. When you have chosen what kind of backup you want to create, the last thing left to pick is the backup format. You can choose between CBU file, ISO, ZIP, Self-extracting CBU file and simple copy. There is also a Sync data option too, which will keep the backup up-to-date by monitoring for any changed made in the backup source.

There are shortcuts available so that you can create backups of personal data. This means that you can directly make backups of your photos, music, videos and documents without having to go through the normal process of backing up.

It doesn’t have any cons actually. The advanced options can be ignored if you are a beginner, and they can be explored if you are a more experienced user.
