Overview

Installing software is an easy job most times, but what about uninstalling them? Do we do it right or not? Unfortunately a user doesn’t have much control over the uninstallation of a product, and it’s a direct consequence that useless and unneeded files and folders are left after the removal of a program. But there’s something you can do about it: use IOBit Uninstaller 2. This software will remove any installed program, either using the normal uninstallation process provided by the software itself or by using Powerful Scan and Forced Uninstall methods- which will remove a program even it had a corrupt installation and cannot be deleted normally.

Installation

Ok, to successfully install this product you must first download IOBit Uninstaller Downloader, which will download the appropriate setup package. When this task is completed then the installation will automatically begin; when it’s finished, IOBit Uninstaller will start. There are no harmful software included in this package, they do however encourage you to download 3^rd-party software using advertisements.

Supported operating systems are Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8.

Interface

The interface is rather simple but elegant and not outdated at all. On the left-hand side you can see 5 categories: All Programs, Toolbar, Recently Installed, Large Programs and Windows Updates. Depending on the selected category, the list of installed programs in the center changes. At the top is an “Uninstall” button, a “Batch Uninstall” checkbox for batch software removal and a search box for search for installed software. At the bottom of the window is a small description of IOBit Uninstaller 2.

Pros

The program can efficiently remove any unwanted program, simply by selecting it from the list of installed software and then clicking on the “Uninstall” button. A window will open afterwards and ask you to choose uninstallation method (Standard or Advanced). You can choose to create a system restore point before uninstalling the program, as well as (only in Advanced mode) scan for leftover items in the registry and hard drive using the Powerful Scan feature. Run this scan if you want to make sure that the removed program left nothing in your computer.

The Force Uninstall feature works by scanning the application you give it and removing all associated files and registry items with it. It is recommended when dealing with a faulty program installation that cannot be normally uninstalled.

Batch software removal is supported too.

Cons

Its functionality could be improved a bit in order to become more professional. For example, it should ask you only once whether you want to uninstall a program and not twice; it also shouldn’t start the uninstallation process before giving you the chance to make configurations. The quality of the program would be greatly improved if those changes were made.

Ashampoo Uninstaller (paid) is one of the best uninstallers in the market due its efficiency and unique features. One of its most important features is its ability to monitor a program installation so that it can then delete anything related to it, including files and data that wouldn't be deleted normally. Other good software of this kind are Revo Uninstaller (paid), GeekUninstaller (paid) and Total Uninstall (paid).

Conclusion

Could use some improvements, but it’s a great uninstaller nonetheless.
