SoftPerfect File Recovery 1.2

Overview

SoftPerfect File Recovery is a package to be able to restore files that has been lost, deleted or corrupted. These files can be stored on floppy disks (remember them?), hard drives, USB flash drives, USB hard drives, SD cards, CF cards, and other types of media too. The supported file systems include FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS5 and NTFS. Encryption and compression are both supported on several of the file formats. The tool is freely provided.

Installation

SoftPerfect File Recovery doesn't actually install as such. The package comes with its own .EXE file and this can just be launched as is making File Recovery a portable app useful for USB flash drives, etc. It is therefore up to the individual to create a Start menu folder, Quick launch icon or desktop icon once they have created a folder for it within the Program Files folder, and moved the program application file across. 

Interface

The interface includes large buttons at the top for Search, Restore, About, Web Site, and Language.

In the main Search screen, the Search area displays a list of possible drive locations to pick between. There is also a search box to search for file names or file types like .jpg or .png or .doc.

The search results window is displayed below. The search is run once the search is entered or if can be left blank and just by pressing the Enter key the search will commence.

Once the results are shown, it is possible to select a file and right click on the mouse to bring up some options. The two option are to restore the file or to restore it with its path.

SoftPerfect File Recovery is a free app to help recovery data files from memory cards, USB devices, floppy discs and hard drives. The app doesn't need to be installed and can run filtered searches for specific files on a specific storage device.
