Overview

Tixati is an alternative bit torrent client for people who want to try a different application.

The software can add torrent and Magnet files to start downloads. The package can manage the download and upload through bandwidth throttling in order to avoid overusing the internet connection when downloading files. There is also the option to set up times when a higher download limit is allowable and times when it isn't.

Control the number of downloads that are happening at once. Change their priority to ensure the most important downloads come down the pipe faster than the others. Keep some torrents that have completed download and are willing to continue to seed to other users.

View the number of active peers per torrent, their URLs and other key information for each torrent file.

Accessible media can be streamed successfully.

Messaging can be send between users in encrypted manner using a decentralized system.

Installation

The installation completed without any issues. The user can pick whether they wish the application to be the default one for torrent, magnet and dsc files.

There was no adware, toolbars, spyware or malware included with the setup package.

Tixati requires Windows Win7, Vista, XP or Windows Server (32-bit or 64-bit).

Interface

The interface looks quite different to regular Bittorrent clients because the background is mostly clothed in black. The menu and toolbars are gray, but the background to the main information panes are very dark. However, bright fonts are used which makes the text mostly readable.

There is no menu system, but a toolbar includes a few key commands for Home, RSS feeds, Transfers, Bandwidth, DHT, Settings, and Help.

There is a secondary toolbar is lined with buttons for Add, Start, Stop, Remove, Properties, and Layout.

The added torrent files will show in the main pane which lists their name, bytes, progress percentage, status, bytes in, bytes out, priority, time left, etc.

The second pane has a tabbed navigation to access different section like Details, Files, Trackers, Peers, Pieces, Bandwidth, Event Log, Options, and Comments.
