Overview

SolveigMM Video Splitter is a package to help split up video files into a series of smaller files. The software can split, trim or cut a range of video formats including AVI, WMV, WAV, MOV, MKV, ASF, WMA, AVCHD, and MPEG-1, plus MP3 audio files too.

There is a complete editing timeline and preview window which allows the user to work directly with each digital file viewing the content, making decisions about where best to divide up the video into separate parts in a logical manner that fits with the content, i.e at a logical time in the story or part of the training video.

Commercials can even be cut out of recorded content in order to create a new recording without any commercial breaks.

Batch processing is also supported to split up a series of digital video files into separate sections which would be more suitable for storage, internet transfer, burning to a series of CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray discs, and other purposes.

Sound control features include the ability to mute the audio track during certain parts of the recording (perhaps to mute out confidential information or bad language). This can be done without the time-consuming need to re-encode the audio within a digital video recording.

Files can also be re-joined later.

Installation

The installation includes the option to install to a single device or a single single user. The single device option is intended for a portable device like a USB flash drive.

The software came free of malware, spyware and other malicious software additions.

SolveigMM Video Splitter requires Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista or 7. Also requires DirectX 8.0 or higher and Windows Media Format 9.0 and higher.

Interface

The interface is a pleasant-looking one with a large widescreen preview window, playback controls below it, and Input and Output readout information to the left side. Above this is an extensive command menu.

The timeline is shown at the bottom with additional controls. The timeline depicts different shots, breaks between scenes and aids considerably in the cutting/editing process.
