Overview

PopTray is a system tray POP3 email checking application. It can check up to 20 different POP3 email accounts and provide notifications when new email is received.

The application is capable of displaying emails in a list view with a quick preview function so email users can access their email without needing to load up Outlook, Thunderbird or a webmail client just to take a peek at what has been received.

Create rule sets to govern what happens when different types of emails are received to certain email accounts. Change the notification sound depending on the email received so emails from your partner can get a different notification message than ones from your boss. Emails can be deleted from the server once seen in PopTray without the need to view them inside the email package first. Multiple notifications (auditory, visual, etc) can be configured.

Mark unwanted messages as spam and ensure you do not see that type of email again. A white-list and black-list help deal with spam and ensure that the right emails get through and are not discarded when getting rid of the bad emails automatically.

Various email protocols are supported including POP3, POP3SSL, IMAP4, Hotmail and others.

Installation

The installation is straight forward and finishes in an instant. No extra software was added during the installation.

The software will run on various versions of Windows from several years old to newer versions.

Interface

The interface is simple and easy to use. There are tabs with small writing down the right side which lets the user access Mail, Accounts, Options, Rules and About. A full list of incoming email can be shown. There is a button to jump to the designated email package or minimize the application to the system tray. Mail can be automatically collected or there is a button to poll the email servers again.
