Overview

maryfi is a software router that can help to share an internet connection with several people. The package can be used to share a wireless connection with other PCs via a Wi-Fi hotspot. A weak connection can be captured in its best location with the PC or laptop, then a virtual wireless network can be created to share that existing connection (essentially a software Wi-Fi Bridge) with others.

It is possible to use an Ethernet cable to hook into a paid internet connection, like at a hotel, and then use maryfi to share this LAN connection using a new wireless network created using maryfi and Microsoft Virtual Wifi technologies. A wireless card can also be used to connect to the internet with sharing via maryfi after that.

Any suitable internet-enabled device can connect to the Wi-Fi Hotspot once it has been created for the user. A smart phone (iOS, Android, Windows Phone or Blackberry), a tablet (iPad, Android or Windows tablet), games consoles, Apple TV, and other devices. There is WPA2 password-protected encryption that can be enabled to ensure that the network remains protected.

Installation

The installation takes the user through a custom setup in order to connect to their primary internet connection and configure it for a new wireless network with maryfi. There was no malicious software added to the machine.
