If you want a professional solution to search for a text and replace it with another in a specified folder or group of files, grepWin is the software you need to install.

Here are the main features:

• You can use regular expressions to search for the text you want modified. If you’re not familiar with regular expressions, they represent a coded text that identifies patterns to search for. For instance if you want to identify the phone numbers in a text, they could be a 9 digits number like 078938393, but it can also be 0789-389-393 or (078) 938 393. Although it’s written differently, it’s the same number. If you wanted to just search for the first number and replace it with another number it will not work, but with regular expressions you can. You can define a pattern of 9 digits that may contain in between characters like ‘(’ or ‘)’ or ‘-’ or ‘ ’ (space). That’s the power of regular expressions. Don’t worry though, if you’re not experienced, you can use one of the regular expressions included in the software.
