WebP Codec 0.19.9

WebP Codec is a software package to add support for the webp image format in Windows. Webp is a Google graphical image format which reduces graphical file sizes by approximately 40 percent but retains the same level of image quality as a traditional, lossy JPEG image. The high quality PNG image format can also be compressed in the same manner. Whilst some graphics packages do now support the webp image format, many software packages including a few web browsers do not. Google Chrome 9 and later versions, and Opera 11.10 Beta and later versions do support the webp format. This codec software for Windows will allow webp photos to be viewed in the Windows Photo Viewer and thumbnail images to be seen inside Windows Explorer. The codec itself installs to a folder named Windows Photo Viewer and images need to copied into this folder to be viewable natively within Windows once the codec has been installed. Office 2010 and later versions does now allow the insertion of webp images into documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
