Overview

To take a good photo you need experience and possibly expensive equipment, but unless you’re a professional photographer chances are that you’re missing at least one of those two requirements. That’s why VeprIT Photo Sense came to existence; to enhance the quality of your photos with very little effort by using modern and efficient algorithms. In Photo Sense you don’t have to adjust countless functions and use tons of tools in order to have the desired effect, as almost everything happens automatically. If the results do not satisfy you, take control and tweak them to your taste.

Installation

After downloading the .DMG file, double click on it and a new icon will appear labeled similarly to the downloaded file’s name. A Finder window will also appear, so just locate the application’s icon in this new window and drag and drop it into your “Applications” directory.

As you see, this program is for Mac OS X (10.6 or later) users, but there is also an iOS version available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users.

Interface

Once you open the program and load an image, you can see side-by-side its “before and after” previews on the main area. At the top is the toolbar with plenty of buttons with functions such as loading, saving or rotating images, copying/pasting settings and opening the effects window. At the bottom part of the window is the image browser, where you can see the rest of the loaded images and switch between them easily. Between the preview screens and the image browser are the preview tools, next to which is a button that opens a window where you can make adjustments to the colors manually.

Pros

As soon as you open an image in Photo Sense, it is instantly processed and automatically enhanced. The results will be displayed instantly in the preview screen, and if you’re happy with them you can save the image and finish. It’s that simple, really. If on the other hand you want to improve your image in a different way, you can configure the processing options in a semi-automatic mode and skip the adjustment of specific value like colors, exposure, contrast, saturation, sharpening, color noise and luminance. If that’s not enough for you, there’s a fully manual way of adjusting those elements all by yourself. In Photo Sense you can also apply creative effects (e.g. “Pencil”, “Mystique Glow”, “Antique” and others).

The software supports batch image processing, so you can process several images at once. For example, you can batch resize, rotate or convert images as well as perform color enhancements to all or a group of them.

Cons

There are no cons in the program. But to speak of its demo limitations, Photo Sense doesn’t allow you to save the images unless you purchase a license.

Alternatives

GIMP (free) is a great image editor for Windows, Mac and Linux. Despite the fact that it is not as easy to use as Photo Sense, it has a lot more tools and is chosen by a big percentage of users. Photoscape (free) is another lightweight alternative for Windows users.
