Overview

Vembu BDR is an Enterprise tool to make backups of VM tools with various virtual machines running different operating systems within a desktop or more typically a server-based environment.

With Vembu BDR it is possible to backup complete images of virtual or physical systems and later recover the complete image including operating system, installed, apps, files, data, and more.

Backups can be agentless for VMware with VM backups using certified APIs which can later be restored easily directly to a ESX server.

Run backups that are aware what application is being run which enables the software to choose the most appropriate backup approach to save time and space. VSS integration is utilized to include incremental backups which save time and space over adopting a full backup procedure.

Microsoft Exchange 2013, 2010 and 2007 are supported within Vembu BDR. Individual mailboxes and specific email can be recovered.

A 10 GB Cloud DR replication service is offered free. Backups for desktop and laptop computers are also included with any license.

Installation

The installation went as planned. The software will only install on Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2 Server. Attempting to install the software on other Windows systems with result in a cancellation of the software installation process.

There were no malicious software additions to the setup package.

Vembu BDR requires Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2 Server.

Interface

The Vembu BDR interface includes a lot of white space and plain design.

Steps are labeled as such which makes it easier to learn what to do in order to accomplish certain tasks while using the software and colors are used in sensible ways to highlight as the user works through the backup process.

The main interface includes system identifying information and confirmation of which user is presently logged in. A menu at the top has options for Backup, Restore and Reports on the left side, and Additional Backups, Settings and Help on the right side.

The layout is very structured and logical, so it is not confusing at all.
