Overview

Toolwiz Care FREE is a free system optimization utility that aims to help improve the speed of computers using Windows 7 or earlier operating system.

There are numerous tools that the user can access to start making some improvements. These include a System Speedup tool to make some tweaks to improve speed, a System Checkup to verify that nothing is out of place with the system as it is configured presently, and a Registry Cleaner to look for old invalid entries and other unnecessary items that are still sitting in the Windows Registry.

The interface is nicely designed with a smart layout which is clear. The mini dashboard to the right is a nice touch. The inclusion of a screen capturing tool with its floating bar including information about the current upload kilobytes per second is an odd touch that seems out of place with an optimization tool.

For avid gamers, there is a tool to improve the smoothness of Windows, optimize the RAM memory and tweak the system to help with more efficient gaming.

Reports can be generated to keep a record of how the computer is being managed and when different scans were run last.

Installation

The software offers to create a System Restore point before installation. The software can also act as a portable app by being able to run without installation or the user can opt for the installed version. The installed version of the software completed without any issues.

There were no malicious software packages included with the installation.

Toolwiz Care FREE requires Windows 7, Vista or XP.

Interface

The interface includes a hover tool at the top of the desktop which initially displays the current uploading kilobytes per second. There is a screen capture tool complete with tool to specify what part of the screen should be captured and double-clicking on the tool takes the user to the main console.

The main application window has several huge toolbar buttons for Checkup, Cleanup, Speedup, Security, Tools and App Manager. To the right is a mini dashboard with information about current download and upload traffic, CPU usage, memory usage, CPU temperature and disk access.

The modules are displayed to the right. These include Time Freeze, Game TurboBoost, Eyes Care, File Locker, Startup Defender, Remote File Backup, Virtual Safe, One Click Backup, Picture Editor, and Password Manager.

If the user has not run a test scan with this package, the main area will suggest this with a large green “Start Checkup” button.
