Overview

Tftpd32 is an open-source communication application that can be used for internet and network communications. It has been developed since 1998 and so it already has a 17 year history.

The package can communicate as a TFTP server, used as a TFTP client, a DHCP server, or a system log server. There are configuration options for TFTP which include block size, time out, and tsize. Altering these settings can help to squeeze out the best possible performance from the TFTP facility. TFTP features include security tuning, filtering via the interface, directory facility, progress bars for transfers with multiple pop-up windows for different transfers in progress, and more.

The DHCP server provides for unlimited static IP and automatic IP address assignment.

The TFTPD program runs as a Windows service to ensure that it can operate with full permissions and is not interrupted when the user logs out, but keeps Windows operational.

There are several versions of the software including 32 bit and 64 bit ones.

Installation

The installation requires only 70 KB of available space. The installer program completed without any issues. Installation packages are available from the developer's web site in various configurations, file archive or installable executable, and 32 bit and 64 bit versions too.

There was no adware, toolbars, malware, spyware or other malicious program included with the setup distribution.

Tftpd32 requires Windows OS.

Interface

The interface is extremely basic. It clearly hasn't been updated much over the years, however it is still quite functional with options being pretty obvious for the intermediate to advanced users.

The current directory and server interface are selected at the top of the application window. The user can browse the file system to locate the correct directory to access.

There are five navigation tabs to access different features of the software: TFTP server, FTFP client, DHCP server, Syslog server, and Log viewer.

About, Settings and Help buttons are shown at the bottom of the application.
