Overview

There have been countless times where I needed to fix boot issues in Windows, which used to frustrate me a lot, until I managed to find the best way to manage them. Simply put, the best way to deal with problems like that is to use a Windows boot manager like Tenorshare Windows Boot Genius- a software which can help you repair an operating system, let you configure miscellaneous system settings and generally give you the ability to log into a mini-OS in order to fix the problems of another one.

Installation

The installation procedure is very short and straightforward. After launching the installer (note that the installation package isn’t exactly small, with its size being about ~250MB), follow the on-screen instructions and make any required settings. The main installation process is very quick and will finish in under a few minutes.

Tenorshare Windows Boot Genius is completely clean from all kinds of malware (Trojans, viruses, etc.) and doesn’t install any 3^rd-party advertised apps either.

Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 (64&32 bits) and Windows Sever 2012, 2008 and 2003.

Interface

The program’s interface is quite polished and modern. It has a sidebar on the left side of the main window with two menus: How to create bootable CD/DVD or USB drive and How to boot Windows from CD/DVD or USB drive. Practically, you’ll only need the first menu of the program, since it contains the functionality that allows you to burn the necessary files to a CD/DVD/USB drive in order to boot from it later. The second menu contains instructions that explain how to boot from the CD/DVD/USB that you burned.

Pros

In essence, what this program does is burn a bootable ISO image in a portable device (which can be a CD/DVD, a USB stick, an external disk drive, etc.) which will be used afterwards as a boot device. The ISO image contains many built-in tools that can be used to fix several issues that may be causing system instability (boot errors and crashes).

To burn the ISO image to a portable device, simply open Tenorshare Windows Boot Genius, and from the first menu in the sidebar select the device that you want to burn it in and click “Burn”. The process will begin and you will be notified when it’s complete.

Once the bootable device is ready, then you must boot from it by configuring the boot device priority in the BIOS (for a detailed explanation of how to do this, go to the second menu of the program or visit this link). After booting from the device, you may use any of the available tools that are related to your problem.

The tools included in the boot image are split into 4 categories: Windows Rescue, Password & Key Recovery, Data Recovery and Disk Tools. Each category has plenty of features that fix certain classes of issues. For instance, the first category is used for fixing boot-related problems and crashes (e.g. crash or freeze on boot, Blue Screen of Death, etc.), the second category includes password recovery tools, the third category contains various tools for restoring deleted data from storage devices and the fourth category is used for managing disk drives (cloning disks, creating partitions, etc.).

Cons

No cons in this program, but there is a minor spelling mistake in the program where you choose in which portable device the boot image will be burned- displaying “Unknow” instead of “Unknown” in some of the listed devices.

Alternatives

Other software with similar functionality are BootIt Bare Metal (paid), Lazesoft Recovery Suite (free and paid version available) and Hiren’s BootCD (free). Out of those, Hiren’s BootCD has most features and built-in tools.

Tenorshare Windows Boot Genius is a program that you can actually rely on when you need to solve boot errors, freezes, and many other system-related problems.
