Overview

Plagius Professional is a tool to check for copied work (plagiarism) within documents that can be added to the package.

The software can scan online sources for single or multiple documents at the same time to see whether parts or all of the document are duplicates of whatever is already available online.

The package accepts various documents formats including plain text, RTF, HTML, OpenOffice, Word (DOCX and DOC), and PDF files.

Scans are run through a number of search engines to check for duplicates. This is done to ensure that a lack of a full internet indexing by one search engine doesn't affect the results because more than one search engine is tasked.

Detailed reports can be viewed to see the results of the scans. These reports can be exported to an HTML file for easy viewing in a web browser later.

Installation

The installation completed without any issues.

There was no adware, toolbars, spyware or malware included with the setup package.

Plagius Professional requires Windows OS.

Interface

When first running, the program defaults to Brazilian language despite running an English system (would have been nice if they had bothered to scan the system for the default language). The software has the option via the Options Menu button and then Configurations to change the language selection (there is only one other choice).

The interface has a large toolbar with over-sized buttons for Options Menu, Perform Analysis, Result, Abort, and Set Level of Analytics.

The rest of the interface changes depending on what action is being taken.

When first starting out, there are navigation tabs for Analysis of multiple files, Single file analysis, Text analysis, Web page analysis, and Whitelist (Skipped URLs).

The time taken to analyze is shown as the bottom of the interface.

• Many not be as accurate as CopyScape

Alternatives

CopyScape is the obvious choice here for premium online validation of content. Viper The Anti-plagiarism Scanner is a desktop based alternative.
