"Video editor for Linux"
Overview
OpenShot Video Editor is a free video editor for use within Linux like Mint or Ubuntu. The software has many appealing features to try out. Project files can be added and created with videos that are edited using the timeline editing process. Unlimited layers or tracks can be used during the editing process. Create transitions between shots. Add special effects to bring videos to life. Image overlays, watermarks and composition alterations can help to imprint the video creator in the mind of the viewing public. Add titles, sub titles and other text to videos. Add scrolling credits to a movie. Move step by step through a movie one frame at a time so the right changes can be made in the correct places. Pan across an image or filter the image to make it look older. Adjust the speed of playback and zoom into shots for real-time editing.
Installation
Installation with a Linux application usually means access the repository and downloading the package from there. Alternatively, the install package can be saved and run within Linux. This will launch the Linux installation package management and install the new software for you.
Interface
The interface includes a menu at the very top and some large toolbar buttons below that. Project files, transitions and effects form the next layer as tab navigation. Clicking on either of these three will alter the pane that is shown on the left hand side of the interface. A video preview and playback controls is shown in the right hand pane.
Editing controls are shown below the first panes across the window, with the editing playback timeline displayed directly below the editing controls. Multiple tracks can be seen and adjusted within the timeline playback and scroll bars allow the user to move further down the timeline for longer video or audio content.
