KILLCMOS 1.0

KILLCMOS is a program that can get around a problem of an unknown or forgotten password attached to the CMOS battery functionality. The CMOS is a memory chip that is battery powered which remembers key information used by a PC when it is first started up. The BIOS can be password protected in order to ward off hackers from getting into it and preventing the computer from booting up in the future. This package can help restore the motherboard's BIOS to factory default settings. It must be run from a floppy disc or CD.

KILLCMOS Key Features:

• Resets a password protected CMOS memory chip to factory defaults
• Boots up from a floppy disk or CD to run under DOS
• Works mostly for older systems, but not exclusively
• Should be seen as a last resort before trying to recover the BIOS password from other sources

KILLCMOS is a special package that forces the motherboard to load default BIOS settings by resetting (killing) the CMOS.

Editor's Note:

We are informed from time to time by our users that KillCMOS is infected with a virus. Note that the operating system system requirement for this program is DOS, which means you need to boot from a CD (or floppy) to DOS and execute the program. If you execute the program from Windows, anti-virus programs will detect an attempt to access the bios and flag KillCMOS as a virus. This is a false positive though.
