Overview

future.dj pro is a professional DJ mixing desk for use on the Windows PC (there is also a Mac version).

The mixing desk is designed for DJs who perform live sets in clubs around the world. There are two decks to work with and a mixer is included. Play out one tune and fade in the next one. Use the deck to digitally scratch the track back and forth to add a personal touch.

There is an Automix function which will allow the DJ to create their own session and then let it run on automatic. This provides the option to create their set in advance rather than it being a mad rush right up to their performance time.

The software links right into the iTunes library on the computer for easy access to digital tunes. Search for tracks to find what is needed. A browser, a current list and a side list ensure that the DJ can stay organized. Locate tracks by type (video, audio or karaoke). Add markers to songs to color code the favorite ones.

Create cue points and loops. Mix the track how the DJ wants it live.

Listen to songs before they're in the live playlist. Use headphones with separate output.

Installation

The installation completed without any issues.

There was no adware, toolbars, spyware or malware included with the setup package.

future.dj pro requires Windows 7 (there is also a Mac OS X version available).

Interface

The all-black interface jumps to full screen immediately following installation. The top-right controls let the user remove the maximization effect.

The design of the interface is ideal for DJs who are in the club mixing a set.

The digital mixer includes digital knob adjustments for gain and high levels for key settings.

There are two digital decks to virtually reverse direction for some digital scratching during track playback.

A global browser is in the bottom-left and let the user access key areas of the system like the iTunes library. To the right is a list of media and to the far right is the Automix playlist.

The interface is clearly very complete. The user will need a strong understanding of what all parts of the digital deck can do in order to get the most out of it.
