Overview

Organizing your photos can be quite a painful task that deserves a considerable amount of valuable time. With Fotobounce you can simplify this process and make it even more efficient since it incorporates great features such as face recognition for easy tagging of the people appearing in photos, and sharing of images directly in social websites such as Twitter, Google Plus, Facebook, Flickr etc. The uploaded albums and photos can be stored in private networks that you create and only Fotobounce users that you specify can access them.

Installation

The setup process is quite different than the typical program installation, but it’s just as easy. As soon as you launch the installer, a window will open with a small description of the product and a few settings to configure. Clicking continue will start the main installation, and in a few minutes it will finish. That’s all there is to it, no difficult settings or add-ons.

Supported operating systems: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and Mac OS X. There are plans for making a web-based version of Fotobounce in the near future too. We'll focus on the Windows version on this review.

Interface

It has a modern interface, and unless you are going to use the Licensed version of the program, an advertisement will be shown at the top, below the toolbar. On the left side is a pane with various features regarding the organization and sorting of the photos. From there you can upload them to any of the supported social networks. The photos are shown in the center of the window, and on the right side you can see a pane with actions you can perform on the selected photos.

Pros

One of the most interesting features in the program is the face recognition function. Using advanced face detection and recognition technology, Fotobounce can automatically recognize faces and tag people in photos. After you “teach” the program who each person is, it will start tagging photos by itself and save you valuable time. Afterwards you can easily share the photos by uploading them in popular social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Flickr. This happens directly from within the program, after inputting your account’s credentials. For absolute privacy, you can create private networks over which you can share specific photos/albums with selected Fotobounce users. This is a great way for family members and friends to view photos which you want to keep hidden from the rest of the world.

Cons

The program needs a considerable amount of CPU and RAM in order to run with zero lag. Especially if you have a lot of images, navigating through them will be a challenge in an older system.

Alternatives

Two alternatives to Fotobounce are Picasa (free) and iPhoto (paid). Picasa was made by Google and iPhoto was made by Apple and they both help you organize and edit your photos just like Fotobounce, without sharing many of its unique features though. Picasa has a unique feature which allows you to store photos in an online storage service, having a capacity of 1GB.

Conclusion

Fotobounce is not a photo manager like the rest. It has intuitive functions useful to everyone, and mostly people with a lot of photographs in their possession. No more hustle when sorting, tagging and sharing your images; all of those features are available to you from one slick environment.
