Overview

CleanAfterMe is a desktop cleaner that is capable of removing unnecessary Windows registry entries, log files and other temporarily files that clutter up hard drives.

The software lists out the types of data files which can be removed. These are grouped into categories like Windows Explorer web browser, Window General, Windows Advanced, Internet Explorer, a few Microsoft applications, and Mozilla Firefox web browser.

The user can select only the categories they wish to clean and even just the sub categories of items that need removal like the Mozilla Firefox cache while keeping the cookies which remember the login information for web sites.

The focus of this cleaning app is more towards the continued good functioning of the Windows operating system rather than aimed more at installed applications. Two web browsers are supported, whereas others like Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome browsers are not.

Installation

There is no installation requires because the software is a portable application that can be installed on a PC or a USB flash drive.

There was no adware, toolbars, malware or spyware contained within the file archive.

CleanAfterMe requires Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows Server 2003.

Interface

The interface is basic but it has the plus point of being easy to understand.

The list of categories are shown in the main display at the very top of the application. The sub category actionable items are shown indented below the main category. Each category and sub category has a checkbox to the left of it which can be selected ready for a cleaning process.

A useful more information section describes with 1-2 lines what each item is when an item is individually selected. Where there is a relevant file path to the location where the cleaning action will be taken, this is also shown below the notes.

There are “Show Cleaning Report” and a “Clean Selected Items” buttons which get things moving. There is also a more advanced option with limited customization for how cleaning will be performed.
