"Defrag and speed up the Windows Registry."
Overview:
Auslogics Registry Defrag allows you to make quick work of defragmenting your system registry. On average, Microsoft Windows accesses the system registry a few hundred times per SECOND. This handy piece of software corrects the gaps in the registry that's one of the root causes of slow system performance, and is a great tool you can add to your arsenal to help you win the battle against slow system performance. This program works well for novice users too, and when the defrag is completed you'll be presented with an HTML report that details what's been accomplished.Â
For maximum Windows registry speed and stability, you can't do better than this Auslogics program.Â
Installation:
Installation of the Auslogics Registry Defrag program takes only a few short minutes, and after that it's ready to go. Auslogics Registry Defrag is a freeware program that doesn't cost a thing to download and use. There's no spyware/adware associated with the program at all, and you get a totally clean installation. Auslogics also makes a host of other programs to enhance your PC experience as well, and you'll be prompted to buy their other program offerings while using the Registry Defrag program.Â
In order to use Registry Defrag at its best, you should have a Pentium class processor, 256 megabytes of RAM, and at least 25 megabytes of hard drive space free. It's compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.1.Â
Interface:
The interface of the program is pretty straightforward, but the one thing we didn't like was the prompts to use the other program options that require payment. Sure, the interface allows you to defrag the registry with no problems, and that part is totally free, but if you want to enhance your PC speed in other ways using Auslogics software, you'll have to pay for those separately.Â
After choosing to defrag the registry, you'll be prompted to restart your PC. It's only through the next boot up process that the registry is actually defragged. You'll be able to see it happen when you boot up your PC the next time and watch it go through the next steps. Â
Pros:
The best part about Auslogics Registry Defrag is that it's offered as one of their Freebie programs that you can use without having to pay for. It's also a very effective tool in speeding up registry access times and enhancing system performance. In addition to registry defrag, another freebie being offered by Auslogics that you can try is the freebie disk defrag tool. Both are very good at speeding up your PC performance for free.Â
Cons:
- Constant program nagging to get you interested in purchasing the full versions of their other programs
- We would have liked to see an all inclusive package from Auslogics with all their tools rolled into one - For now you can only buy them separately
Alternatives
Wise Registry Cleaner - When you decide to fix and clean your Windows registry, you'll find that access times are significantly improved, especially on machines that have never been registry cleaned before. The iExpert Registry Clean Expert program is an excellent and highly rated tool to help you accomplish exactly that. In the fight to maintain PC speed and system integrity, this is another good performance tool you can add to your collection.Â
WinMend Registry Defrag - This registry defragmentation and cleanup tool is totally free, but the company does accept donations. Using the latest Windows base level registry reconstruction technology, you'll be able to have a faster and cleaner registry. That means enhanced system performance and less lag time. WinMend Registry Defrag is a good free option for people that don't want to have to pay.Â
Conclusion:
Auslogics is really turning out some great software these days. They're a highly respectable company that has several products to choose from that work wonderfully well. This registry defrag program works as freeware, and you'll never have to pay anything to use it. And, if you combine the freebie Disk Defrag tool that Auslogics is offering with this freebie Registry Defrag tool, you have a nice 1-2 punch of software that can increase PC system speed without costing you a single cent! Thank you Auslogics!
