Active@ Hard Disk Monitor is a hard disk utility that intends to keep an eye on your drives to ensure that they are not developing faults. Using Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.), the software checks sensors for temperature, head flying height and reviews spin-up times to confirm that there are no obvious issues developing. This app which sits in the system tray and can scan in the background is also able to check for bad sectors on a drive. This can be useful too because repeated bad sectors that keep cropping up after first being repaired is a strong indicator of a hardware issue that won't go away.
