Overview

Abelssoft Backup is a backup package that offers to backup different groups of files like Music and Pictures. The software includes automation features to take the hassle out of creating backups or even having to remember to do it. Backups can be automatically set to run for different groups of files every hour, every day, every week, every month, or when the device is spotted as connected to the computer.

Just select the files to be backed up and the name of the backup so it can be easily referenced later on. Most common file types can be pre-selected for backup to ensure they don't get forgotten. Backups can be password-protected and the password is entered right before the backup is commenced. Therefore, it is possible to create separate backups and use different passwords for each one.

Restoring a backup is done within the app itself from a list of available backups.

Installation

Installed was completed without any difficulty. There is a required registration with an email address and a confirmation code that is included in the email sent to user's inbox which has to be entered into the software to unlock the trial period.

The software can install on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, or 8.1. It requires .NET Framework 4.0 or later.

There was no malicious software added during installation.

Interface

The interface is pretty basic with a blue look throughout. There are two main buttons to press: Create a New Backup or Open an Existing Backup.

The interface is clean with a lot of use of white space, many checkboxes to mark to indicate backup preferences, what to backup and restore, and so on.
