Overview

The ALLMediaServer is a complete media center to help view your favorite movies, dig into one of your popular TV shows, listen to music or view your holiday pictures more easily. Add your complete media library into ALLMediaServer and then view your content by categories. Moving through the catalog is as simple as a single click. The use of DLNA wireless beaming is included so with the right hardware media used with the ALLMediaServer it can be beamed to a DLNA TV receiver. The software is also compatible with Samsung AllShare technology too.

Installation

Installation was complete within a few minutes. There were the usual options to add a shortcut icon or a Start Menu reference, but beyond that there were no extras offered. No malware, toolbar or other unnecessary software was present in the package.

Interface

Video, music and pictures receive large buttons down the left side of the interface. Adding files or directories can be done by clicking their respective small buttons below the larger ones referenced above. There is also a view changer to switch from a grid view to a line view and a detailed view showing more information about each media file added.

Across the top is the main action line with buttons for Playlist, Players detected, DLNA Servers detected, an online slider, a filtered search option to narrow down the media catalog view to just those desired (useful with larger media catalogs), and the Setup which essentially is the Settings area.

In the version tested, despite choosing English language during installation, whilst the buttons are in English, right clicking over a thumbnail video will bring up a context menu that appears to be in Polish. At least one button at the bottom of the display is also in the same foreign language while its surrounding buttons are in English. So a mixed bag there and confusing for users to be sure.

Cons

• English and a second language are shown on different buttons and option. The interface is not entirely in English even when this language was the one selected.

Conclusion

A good media server package with enough features for anyone with a DLNA compatible device and looking to use beaming technology with it.
