Overview

FTPPro is a file transfer protocol manager for Windows which makes it much easier to upload files to a FTP server on the internet. The package can also download files that have already been uploaded. An FTP server is how most web hosts offer access to a web hosting account to add web pages for a live web site. The package allows the copying of single files, complete folders or folder and nested sub folders several layers deep with all the accompanying files in the right location directly up to the FTP server. This feature allows a web developer to not need to recreate their own site development structure on the web host as FTPPro does it for them. Secure FTP file transfer protocols are also supported for secure end to end file transfers between client PC and web host.

Installation

The installation of FTPPro went smoothly with nothing usual to report. No extra programs were added during installation.

Interface

The interface is fairly typical of a file transfer protocol program. There is a menu system at the top and a button toolbar across the application with the most used functions. A dual pane system is used with the local drive on the left and the connected FTP server on the right. This allows for files to be copied across more easily with both folder locations on local and FTP server being easily viewable with this configuration.

The log at the bottom updates the user on what files are being transferred, their speed of transfer and while ones are still waiting to be completed.

Anyone who has used a previous FTP package won't find anything out of the ordinary with the layout and functionality of the interface with FTPPro.
