Overview

Holiline Reminder is a calendar and task list system for Windows. The software splits into a mini task list that can float on the Windows desktop, a Calendar system and a scrolling blue banner at the bottom of the desktop that reminds visually about upcoming events.

The task lists that can be add via mini notepads that float on the Windows desktop are the highlight here. Multiple notepads can be added and re-sized with a choice of two colors. To Do list items can be added with faint lines separating each entry. Each notepad can be titled to group like tasks together.

The calendar can be brought up using the calendar icon in the bottom-right corner of the Windows desktop. A scrolling banner at the bottom of the desktop shows the current events. Bringing up the Events Editor lets the user view a large monthly calendar, scroll around to different months, select a date and add a new entry. Existing entries can be selected, viewed, amended, marked as complete or deleted.

There is also a system tray notification icon which provides access to some program features as well.

Installation

The installation requires 20.6 MB of available space to setup.

There was no adware, toolbars, malware or spyware included with the setup package.

Holiline Reminder requires Windows XP, 2000, Vista, 8 or 8.1.

Interface

The Holiline interface is a little different.

There is a nifty little notepad that is partially translucent and can be dragged around the desktop. More than one mini notepad can be created. To do items can be added to each list. The mini notepad is windowless so it looks good and it can be re-sized to suit.

There is also the calendar via the Events Editor. Once entering the Events Editor, a large monthly calendar will be displayed. This can be scrolled forward or back between months. A day can be selected, then a type of event picked and added to the calendar.

The interface looks good. The mini notepad is more useable as a sticky notes alternative app. The Calendar app is quite large and a bit chunky but still perfectly useable. There is also a scrolling blue banner at the bottom of the Windows desktop providing information about upcoming events from the calendar.

Alternatives

Google Calendar via a web site or Chrome extension is a usable alternative for managing some To Do items and all calendar entries. Wunderlist is another viable option.

Holiline Reminder is a desktop calendar and task list in one. It provides calendar and event access, plus mini task lists that sit on the desktop. A scrolling banner reminds about upcoming calendar events.
